The Benefits of Becoming a
Hearing Loss Association of America Chapter

  1. You will be an integral part of Hearing Loss Association, the foremost organization for people with hearing loss.

  2. Entitled to the Use of the Hearing Loss Association Name and Logo

  3. Chapter and Meeting Listing on the Hearing Loss Association Website. The website receives over 2 million hits per month.

  4. A Chapter Manual and other materials that provide detailed guidence for chapter development.

  5. Local Use of 501(c)(3) Tax Exempt Status. Application process is simple and there is no charge. This is useful for local fundraising and usually needed for receiving grant funds

  6. Liability Coverage certificate available for meetings or special events. For a small fee, currently $50, this benefit allows the Chapter to be under the umbrella of Hearing Loss Association of America.

  7. Free support materials from the Hearing Loss Association of America office to help create awareness, such as membership brochures, tips cards and more?

  8. Chapter receives a copy of each Hearing Loss Magazine for its library.

  9. Chapters are eligible for awards presented at the Hearing Loss Association national convention.

  10. Chapter development workshops are conducted at the Hearing Loss Association national convention

  11. When funding is available, Hearing Loss Association conducts leadership training for chapter leaders. Participants are recruited through an application process from all across the country. It is usually a three-day training conducted in Bethesda, close to the national office with expenses paid.

  12. Ongoing consulting support for chapter development as needed from the national office and state coordinator.

  13. Peer support available through the Hearing Loss Association Chapterleaders list serv.

  14. Hearing Loss Association Chapters are recognized community and state organizations and they or individual members are highly respected and sought after as a resource, for advisory positions, speaking engagements and advocacy opportunities.

  15. Opportunities to interact with other chapters and Hearing Loss Association state organizations if there is one in your state.

  16. Chapters are promoted via the Hearing Loss Association e-news and on the web.
