Amtrak Honors Anniversary of ADA Law

Accessibility improved at more than 200 stations in past four years

WASHINGTON – Amtrak is recognizing and honoring the anniversary of the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act signed into law in July 1990.   With input from national disability advocacy groups, America’s Railroad® has taken many significant steps to improve the travel experience for passengers with disabilities –from trip planning, to purchasing tickets, to stations, to equipment and on-board services.

In addition, over the past four years, Amtrak has made accessibility improvements at more than 200 stations, including repairs and upgrades to platforms, ramps and sidewalks, and renovated entrance ways and restrooms.
