Consumer Electronics Association to Receive HLAA National Access Award at Convention 2014

CEA logoThe HLAA National Access Award will be presented at the Opening Session to the Consumer Electronics Association for their leadership in accessible technology solutions for people with hearing loss. Julie Kearney, vice president regulatory affairs, will accept the award.

Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) commented:

HLAA Convention 2014 takes place in Austin, Texas, June 26-29. Awards will be presented at the Opening Session on June 26, sponsored by InnoCaption, at the Fiesta Banquet on June 28, sponsored by Contacta, and on Sunday, June 29, at the Awards Breakfast and Ceremony, sponsored by CapTel Captioned Telephone.

James B. Snow, Jr., M.D., Award
Frank Lin, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery and assistant professor in gerontology at Johns Hopkins Medicine, will receive the James B. Snow, Jr., M.D. Award. Dr. Lin will receive the award June 26 during the Opening Session featuring keynote speaker and renowned composer, Richard Einhorn.

Rocky Stone Humanitarian Award
This award will be presented to Wayne L. Roorda, former Board of Trustee, at the Fiesta Banquet for his personal exemplification of the philosophy of Founder Rocky Stone and contributions to the success of the organization.

HLAA Outstanding Employer Award
This award will be presented to DuPont Displays, Inc. (Santa Barbara, California), at the Awards Breakfast and Ceremony for creating a workplace where people with hearing loss can live up to their career potential.

HLAA will also honor individuals, HLAA Chapters and State Organizations at the Awards Breakfast and Ceremony, for their hard work and dedication. View a list of all the award recipients.
