What Children with Cochlear Implants Need at School
Thursday, June 12, 8:30 a.m. – Noon
Coffee and check-in at 8a m.

With the majority of children with cochlear implants now attending school in public or private mainstream classrooms, parents and school personnel should be prepared to explain and address the child’s needs.  This course will review key topics that can help achieve a favorable classroom environment as well as provide guidance for the classroom teacher. Among the topics to be addressed are: FM systems and the school’s responsibility for providing them, classroom acoustics, troubleshooting cochlear implant technology, the role of classmates, and best practices for teachers in the classroom.

Audience: Classroom teachers, speech language pathologists, educational audiologists, administrators, school aides, other school personnel, and parents of children with hearing loss.
Inquire about a fee for attending this program only.
