Matching Gifts – Double Your Donation

Many employers match contributions made by their employees, retirees and employee spouses to qualifying charitable organizations. Please contact your personnel, human resource or community relations department for a copy of the matching gift form.

HLAA will fill in the required verification information and return the signed form to the appropriate company contact.

If you have questions about matching gifts, please contact HLAA’s Development Office at 301.657.2248 or development@hearingloss.org.

HLAA has been awarded the Charities Seal of Excellence, awarded to members of the Independent Charities of America and Local Independent Charities of America that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to certify, document, and demonstration on an annual basis that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. One of the 1,000,000 charities operating in the United States today, it is estimated that fewer than 50,000, or 5 percent, meet or exceed these standards, and of those, fewer than 2,000 charities have been awarded this seal.

Stock and Securities Donations

  3. The total value of the stock upon transfer is tax-deductible.∗

∗We suggest you consult your tax adviser because laws change and might not apply to an individual’s tax situation.

Planned Giving – Leave a Legacy

To ensure the long-term financial security of the organization we are providing our supporters with an opportunity to invest in the future by making a planned gift to HLAA. The Legacy Circle is an honorary circle created by HLAA to recognize and thank those who make a bequest or lifetime gift. HLAA greatly appreciates a gift of any size – we value everyone’s support.

One of the most powerful ways to support the work of HLAA for years to come is through a gift in your Will. Creating a Will is a good first step in creating an overall estate plan.

One way to get started on securing your legacy is to use this free tool to create your will online, or use it to document your wishes and then consult an attorney. HLAA always suggests seeking the advice of an attorney for a complete estate plan and to help identify particular tax, probate and other legal restrictions depending upon where you live. HLAA is pointing you to this online tool because some people don’t have access to an attorney or would like to learn more about how a planned gift works. You can also use this tool as a “worksheet” to take to an attorney skilled in estate plans, wills and trusts. If you need to find an attorney, check with your local bar association. HLAA does not provide legal advice or warrant that the Freewill materials are accurate. See the Freewill Terms and Conditions for more details on their website at FreeWill.com.

Giving Information

HLAA recommends that planned gifts be made in consultation with your accountant, lawyer or financial planning adviser.

By informing us of your planned gift, you will automatically be enrolled in the Legacy Circle. If you have already included HLAA in your estate plan, we can immediately honor you as our newest HLAA Legacy Circle donor. Please call HLAA at 301.657.2248 or email development@hearingloss.org.

The Stone Endowment Fund is a restricted permanent fund that provides the organization with income generated from investments from the principal. The principal is permanently retained and invested. The interest supports scholarships to individuals who would otherwise be unable to attend the HLAA Convention held each year in cities across the country.
