Long-time supporters may notice membership has been simplified. We’ve streamlined the process to help us reach a wider audience at a crucial time—when more people are turning to HLAA for help.
Membership is now open to all of our valued supporters who help fuel our mission and change the lives of people with hearing loss.
Everyone who gives is now an HLAA member, helping to amplify our HLAA voice, and fulfill our important mission—together!
FAQ about HLAA membership
Why did HLAA membership change?
- We’re growing our impact to include all our valued supporters who help HLAA impact more lives.
- It’s a crucial time to broaden our reach, as the number of people with hearing loss is expected to double by 2050, according to the World Health Organization.
I am already a member and paid in 2023. What should I do now?
- No action is needed now—all current memberships are active through December 2024.
How will I know when to renew my membership?
- We’ll send you updates on upcoming campaigns, events and opportunities throughout the year.
- You can give at any time that works for you.
Will current members continue to receive Hearing Life magazine in the mail?
- Yes, Hearing Life magazine will still be mailed to all current members who’ve given in 2023.
Will new members automatically receive Hearing Life magazine in the mail?
- All members who give $45 or more will be asked to opt in to receive Hearing Life in print.
- Our magazine issues are always available at hearingloss.org.
What amount do I give to become a member of HLAA?
- You can donate any amount and become a member. When you donate $45 or more, you can opt in to receive Hearing Life magazine in print. Magazines are also available online to everyone.
What will happen to Couple/Family memberships?
- People living at the same address are all considered members and eligible for home delivery of one copy of Hearing Life magazine with a donation of $45 or more.
What will happen to Professional and Nonprofit memberships?
- Active professional memberships will be honored through 2024, and this specific classification will disappear after that.
- We still welcome professionals and nonprofit members to join the HLAA community by becoming a member!
I am a lifetime member, what does this change mean for me?
- Your lifetime membership will be honored, and you won’t see any change.
Can I give a gift membership?
- You can donate in honor or in memory of someone, but we no longer offer gift memberships. The person or family you honored will be notified.
