HLAA is pleased to announce the beginning of the fall 2018 Walk4Hearing, the largest and fastest growing program of its kind in the U.S. for people with hearing loss. Beginning on September 23 in New York City, HLAA will host Walk4Hearing events in 12 cities to support people with hearing loss by raising awareness and engaging the local community. In addition, we are excited to have CaptionCall join us the new Walk4Hearing Capital Sponsor.
The theme for this year’s Walk4Hearing is the importance of getting your hearing screened. Untreated hearing loss affects overall health in negative ways. People with hearing loss face an increased risk of falls, isolation, anxiety, depression, and possibly even cognitive decline. Let us know that you are taking charge of your hearing health by using #screenURhearing on Twitter and other social media posts.
Both national and local sponsors are integral to the success of the Walk4Hearing. Their involvement typically consists of much more than financial support. Many companies form their own teams who take part in the Walk and also have volunteers show up to assist with many Walk logistics. With CaptionCall’s generous support we can now help more people take the next step on their hearing loss journey.
“Thousands of people of all ages participate in the Walk to bring awareness to hearing loss and support the important programs and services like those provided by HLAA,” said Bruce Peterson, vice president of marketing of CaptionCall and Honorary Walk4Hearing Chair. “CaptionCall is proud to support the Walk, both as a company and on an individual level with many of our employees.”
The HLAA Walk4Hearing has raised more than $13 million and welcomed more than 90,000 walkers in cities across the country since its inception in 2006. Funds raised support national and local programs for people with hearing loss.
HLAA would like to recognize and thank all our 2018 national Walk4Hearing sponsors:
