The HLAA-Whatcom County Chapter (Washington) which has been meeting since 2004, holds its meetings once a month on Saturday mornings. The chapter is collaborating with the Audiology Clinic at Western Washington University to establish a hearing aid bank at WWU to serve the local community. The chapter recently raised funds which made it possible for them to present check for $1,500 to initiate a teamwork project with WWU that will allow graduate students in the new Clinical Doctorate in Audiology Program to fit donated, refurbished, hearing aids to income restricted people in need of hearing help. The university and the HLAA chapter envision this project to become a major endeavor that will be supported by many other community service organizations in the county.
