HLAA Position: P2P Event Coordinator

Job Purpose:
The primary purpose of the coordinator is to be part of a team of three staff who implement the strategic plan for the HLAA Walk4Hearing in cities across the country and virtually through a DIY effort.

Job Summary:
The peer-to-peer fundraising coordinator is the project manager for the Walk4Hearing in assigned cities and oversees all aspects of its success at those sites. The coordinator understands every aspect of the Walk4Hearing program and executes it locally and/or virtually through a DIY effort.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows the strategic plan for the overall program as well as individual Walks; e.g., selects sites, identifies local leadership and chairs, and more.
  • Monitors budget of assigned Walks to ensure that the program is implemented within budget and on time.
  • Promotes the program through networking and uses social media adeptly.
  • Responsible for local sponsors and alliances and communicates as needed regarding logos, teams, speaking and/or exhibit opportunities at the Walks.
  • Attends planning meetings, Kickoffs and Walks for assigned Walks according to the yearly plan.
  • Ensures all agreements are signed and followed.
  • Communicates with local leaders and participants; e.g., writes coaching emails, send along pertinent news, answering inquiries, providing help and advice, etc.
  • Luminate Online: Understands how Luminate Online (Blackbaud) works from a user perspective and some back-end understanding (will provide training).
  • Works as a team with other Walk4Hearing coordinators and other staff

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree preferred and at least three years of relevant experience.

Qualifications:

  • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple Walks at a time
  • Understands all aspects of the Walk4Hearing
  • Enjoys working with people and is an effective leader of volunteers
  • Ability to handle conflict and resolve issues with volunteers
  • Creative
  • Highly engaged and motivated in the success of the Walk4Hearing
  • Excellent communication skills, especially written and on social media
  • Ability to fundraise and identify new sources for Walk revenue
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage assigned local Walks
  • Must be comfortable working in a close-knit, team environment where attitude and work ethic matters

Work Environment:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Travel is required.
