IRS Filing Date is May 15
It is very important to file your 990 to keep your tax-exempt status and to avoid possible revocation from the IRS. Revocation could significantly impact the chapters’ and state organizations’ ability to raise funds or solicit donations, and cause you to go through the lengthy and costly process to have the IRS reinstate your chapter’s tax-exempt status. Thank you to those organizations who have filed already. If you have not yet filed your 990 for 2021, please file on or before May 15, 2022. April 29 Deadline for State and Chapter Leaders/Delegate Registration
State and chapter organization leaders and delegates are encouraged to use a special discounted registration to attend the HLAA 2022 Convention in Tampa, Florida, June 23-25. The registration discount ends April 29. State and chapter organizations may register up to 4 officers (i.e., president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer; or four members of your steering committee) PLUS 1 Delegate (encourage a member who is being groomed for a leadership role to use the State and Chapter Leader/Delegate registration form. Officers/steering committee members must be current HLAA national members and we must have a current Chapter and State Organization Update on file. If the chapter or state organization needs to send in a current update, please use this form: Chapter and State Organization Update Form. Your registration will not be processed if we do not have a current form on file. The officer/steering committee registrations are not transferrable to other HLAA members.
May is Better Hearing Month and Better Hearing and Speech Month
During the month of May, HLAA wants to highlight what HLAA Chapters plan to do to celebrate and encourage hearing health and how to live well with hearing loss.
Will chapters host an event online or in person? Will chapters help people with hearing loss through scholarship opportunities, have a fun game night, or share marketing brochures or other materials within their community?
Please fill out this online form during the month of April to share your promotional ideas and activities. These activities will then be posted on the HLAA website in May. Thank you!
