Steps for the Best Outcome

You’re addressing your hearing health by seeing a professional—an important step! Take some time to prepare to get the best treatment.

  1. Write down your medical history and a list of medications, since these can affect your hearing.
  2. Avoid loud noise exposure 12 hours before a hearing test.
  3. Reschedule if you have congestion.
  4. Bring a log of when and where you’ve noticed hearing problems over the last weeks or months.
  5. List any activities that are becoming difficult for you, at work, school or socially. Be specific, as this could guide your treatment.

Remember, you’re not alone.

HLAA has a network of support that many say is key to living a full life with hearing loss.
