The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) is committed to protecting the privacy of its visitors. Information gathered through the HLAA website (hearingloss.org) is used to monitor our site’s effectiveness and to respond to your questions and requests.

Financial Information You Choose to Provide
If you choose to make an online donation or payment, you will be asked to provide your credit card billing information. As this information is collected and transferred over the internet to our secure server, it is encrypted using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, the industry standard security technology that is designed to protect sensitive information.
Our billing pages display the GeoTrust® Secure Site Seal to assure you that our website is authentic and that all transactions are secured by SSL encryption. Clicking on the GeoTrust® logo will display thankyou4caring.org as the domain instead of hearingloss.org as this is our security certificate name. If you are making a donation or payment, the credit card information that you provide at the time of the donation or payment is used only to process your donation or payment and will not be used for any other purposes.
What information do we collect and how do we use it?
Through this website, we collect information about the domain name (i.e., .com, .net, .edu, .gov) of a visitor’s server (the name of the internet service provider’s computer that funnels traffic to the internet) but use it only for measurement purposes. These measurements provide website statistics, such as the number of visitors, “hits” and most visited pages. Knowing how the site is used helps us improve the user’s experience. The data we collect are totals of those visiting from a domain and not information on individual visitors. These statistics do not reveal personal information.
Email addresses provided to us through registration on our site, our message boards, our email newsletter mailing list, our online store, or when making a donation are used to distribute advocacy alerts, electronic newsletters, announcements, or other information that HLAA distributes on behalf of our organization or state and chapter affiliates. We do not automatically collect email addresses or other personal information unless you provide it. You will be given the option to unsubscribe from receiving email notifications from us at any time.
The Hearing Loss Association of America does not sell, trade, or rent personal information about its website visitors, members, or donors.
By becoming a member of the Hearing Loss Association of America, you are giving us permission to share the information that you provide us such as your address, email, and phone number with HLAA Chapters and State Organization members. We share contact information with HLAA Chapters and State organizations who wish to reach out to you about local events. We never share your information with companies advertising their products or services. If you do not wish to have your information shared with HLAA Chapters and State organizations, please contact membership@hearingloss.org and we will remove you from mailing lists.
When you order products or services from the HLAA online store, join HLAA, or make a donation online, we will ask for your name, email address, mailing address, credit card number, and the credit card expiration date. This allows us to process, fulfill, and acknowledge your order, membership, or donation. Secure server software encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us.
You may receive periodic mailings from HLAA by U.S. mail. If you do not wish to receive such mailings, please email inquiry@hearingloss.org and provide your full name, mailing address and a note requesting deletion of your postal information from our files.
