Health Care Communicating With People with Hard of Hearing and Deaf Patients
To facilitate effective communication with patients, maintain eye contact, introduce yourself and show your ID badge, and ensure the patient has a Communication Access Plan (CAP). Reduce background noise, use clear speech without exaggeration, and provide written instructions, while avoiding reliance on family members or friends for communication without patient consent.
