The Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) makes every effort to ensure that the information available on our website is accessible to all. If you use special adaptive equipment to access our website and encounter problems, please contact us at webteam@hearingloss.org and we will attempt to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. Please be specific when describing the problem and provide the URL of the page(s) where you encountered the problem. If you prefer to call us, our main number is 301.657.2248.

What are we doing?

To help make the HLAA website a positive experience for all, our target is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and Website Accessibility Under Title II of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) as best we can. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone. The WCAG 2.0 guidelines have three levels of accessibility: A, AA and AAA. Our goal is to achieve Level A accessibility.

We have installed an accessibility plugin, which appears as a green icon in the upper right corner of each page. Clicking on the icon allows the user to:

  • Change all text and image colors to black and white
  • Contrast dark
  • Stop movement
  • Readable fonts
  • Underline all links
  • Enlarge font size

How are we doing?

We are confident that we have achieved our goal of Level A accessibility. We monitor the website regularly to maintain this, but if you do find any problems or have recommendations on how we can improve please get in touch with us at webteam@hearingloss.org.
