HLAA Product Showcase Webinar: CaptionMate @ Join by computer or mobile device.
Apr 22 @ 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm

When: Thursday, April 22, 2021
Time: 2-2:30 p.m. (ET) with 20 minutes for product demo and 10 minutes for Q&A.

During the April 22 CaptionMate* event, hear from Jon Gray, CaptionMate’s Business Manager, regarding how the captioning app is used for direct, independent and effective cell phone calls for people with hearing loss. Receive captions to your normal cell phone number in real-time without the annoying delays of the past. Experience total privacy with no third-party operator and always have access to the whole conversation, not just what the other person said. Customize the app by selecting the font size, color and language of your choice on either your Apple, Android or landline phone.

CaptionMate is a free service for individuals with hearing loss. The cost of captioning each Internet Protocol Captioned Telephone (IP CTS) call is funded through a federal program, and the cost of the calls are paid for by contributions from other telecommunications users to the Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) fund administered by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

*The FCC has conditionally certified CaptionMate.

Note: Product showcases are for advertising purposes only. HLAA does not endorse products or services featured and the presentation is paid for by the advertiser.

Registration is required for this event. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Live Meeting: Externally-Led Patient-Focused Drug Development Meeting for People and Families Living with Sensorineural Hearing Loss @ YouTube Live
May 25 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

PFDD Events

Date: Tuesday, May 25, 2021
Time: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. (U.S. Eastern Time)

Patient-Focused Drug Development (PFDD) meetings were first started by the FDA to try and find a better way to hear directly from patients, their caregivers and families. The meetings explore what symptoms matter most to them, the impacts on patients’ daily lives, and patients’ experiences with currently available treatments. This information helps the FDA both during drug development as well as during review of marketing applications for new drugs

It is exciting that HLAA can lead the charge here with the FDA who will attend and listen. Our hope is that patient engagement through a PFDD will go a long way in shaping future hearing loss treatments and creating a deeper understanding of the impact of hearing loss on individuals, their quality of life and associated comorbidities.
