At Ease Programming for Visitors who are Deaf/Hard or Hearing
Visitors who are deaf or hard of hearing are invited for a morning at the Museum to immerse themselves in the history of the United States Army and explore educational programming- all before the Museum opens for the day.
Stop by the Welcome Desk to check out multiple accommodations that include assisted listening devices, printed audio tour scripts, and screen readers. Sign language interpreters also will be available. An ID card, such as a driver’s license, is requested for equipment use.

This workshop will help chapter leaders learn to use email – handling multiple email accounts all in one place, the advantage of using an email client over webmail, how to view, save and find saved attachments, and the Internet- focusing on web browsers, search engines, and more.
Navigating the workplace can be challenging for people with hearing loss. In this webinar, panelists from SMBC will discuss how to effectively network with hearing loss, how best to differentiate yourselves to stand out to employers when applying to jobs, and how to navigate networking after beginning the job. The panelists will also share more about career opportunities at SMBC.

Speakers:
Kunal Mahajan has been in the investment banking field for 13 years within the leveraged finance industry. He joined SMBC in the Americas in 2017 in their Leveraged Finance Group and is also part of their corporate development team. As a lifelong person with a stuttering disability. Kunal founded SMBC’s Mental Health, Neurodiversity, and Disabilities Enterprise Resource Group called UNIQUE in June 2019. He co-chairs this employee resource group and helps to lead many activities through UNIQUE along with the support of SMBC management and SMBC employees from all over North America and Latin America.
Carolyn Lewerenz has worked in financial services in New York City for more than 20 years with various roles in operations management, client services and IT. Carolyn joined JRIA, the IT division of SMBC, in 2019 and works in their data management group.
Kumar Viswanathan has worked in financial services for more than 10 years in the areas of regulatory reporting, risk management and enterprise information management. Kumar joined the regulatory reporting team in the controllers division of SMBC in 2020.
Ann Lee has worked in the finance services field for more than seven years with various roles in the commercial loan operations and regulatory reporting. She joined SMBC’s regulatory reporting group in the controller division in 2018.
Daniela Ortiz Castaneda has worked in the financial services for more than five years in the Latin American corporate and North American project finance areas. Daniela joined SMBC’s portfolio management division in 2019.
Helpful Hints and Tutorials
- Registration is required for this event. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
- Use a computer. If possible, attend the meeting on a computer rather than via a smartphone or iPad. This will give you the best layout to view the captions as well as other meeting features.
- Captions. HLAA webinars are open or closed captioned. Subtitles will be visible at the bottom of the meeting Zoom screen.
- Check your time zone. This meeting will take place live at 5 p.m. ET, 4 p.m. CT, 3 MT and 2 p.m. PT. You should make note of your time zone so you do not miss the meeting.
