Mar 14 @ 2:00 pm – 2:30 pm

When: Tuesday, March 14, 2023
Time: 2:00-2:30 p.m. (ET)

Executive Summary:

Whether you are new to CapTel captioned telephones or are a longtime user, there are several advanced features that make phone calls easy and convenient for people with hearing loss. This webinar explores one of those features: Dialing by Picture, which allows people who use the CapTel 2400i to dial simply by touching a picture of the person they want to call. While convenient for anyone, Dial-by-Picture is especially helpful for people with dexterity or memory issues. Intended specifically for people who use a CapTel 2400i captioned telephone, this webinar demonstrates how to sync your computer/laptop to add pictures to your phone’s contact list, and how to incorporate photos for easy one-touch Speed Dialing.

Intended for people who use CapTel model 2400i.

“The Workplace and the Law — Where It Helps Us, and Where It Doesn’t.” @ Join by computer or mobile device.
May 18 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

When: Thursday, May 18, 2023
Time: 6-7:00 p.m. (ET)

John Waldo will present a chronological view of the employment process, including training and licensing, the application and interview process, and then the workplace itself. He will be discussing topics like what accommodations must be offered, what does accessible actually mean, what can employers ask, and what do you have to disclose. He will point out those areas in which the law provides us with strong protections, and those areas where the law helps us less than we might think. He will also be taking Q & A following the presentation.

Presenter:

Mr. John Waldo is an attorney whose practice focuses exclusively on implementing the benefits and protections of federal and state disability laws for deaf and hard of hearing people, particularly for people who communicate aurally rather than through sign language. This focus combines his 40 years of legal experience and his lived experience with a progressive hearing loss. He was the attorney on a number of the cases leading to national regulations requiring movie theaters to provide caption-viewing devices, a case ruling that live theaters must provide captioning when requested by the patron rather than when scheduled by the theater and on cases requiring providers of online education to caption their material. John and his wife live in Houston, but his practice is nationwide.

Kevin Gifford

My name is Kevin Gifford, I have been working at Cochlear now for a little over 2 years. My first year I worked in the orders and insurance department. It was a great way to learn the ins and outs of insurance and to learn about Cochlear products. For the past year I have been a part of the Cochlear Recipient Solutions team. My job within the Cochlear Recipient solutions team is to educate recipients about the upgrade process. A lot of recipients like to use the Recipient Solutions team because it is a more personalized experience during the upgrade process. I look forward to meeting you!
